Customer Story - Professional Development Program
A healthcare organization had an annual professional development evaluation and process; however, it was underutilized and inefficient. Staff were not held accountable to grow, accomplish their goals, or address skillset deficiencies.
Call for Help:
- Staff and managers were not engaged in the current process. They did not understand the program’s value.
- There was no structure, standard work, or follow-through within the current process.
- Managers had no training, and most had little to no experience leading others.
Farwell Advisor Support:
- Senior advisor evaluated the current state, including processes and documentation and developed a needs/gaps assessment.
- Staff and manager interviews informed the advisor of the current process and its value, accountability, and outcomes.
- Advisor restructured the coaching plan and gained executive buy-in and approval.
- Advisor developed training plans for executive, manager, and general staff. Advisor supported and mentored all levels through the first implementation.
Results:
Staff members were involved and accountable to effective, scalable plans for development.
- Program transitioned from an annual review-type process to a year-round structure that held staff accountable and encouraged ongoing, interactive coaching and support.
- Staff was engaged and bought-in to the new structure. There was more feedback loops, accountability, and growth opportunities.
- Manager competency grew, and they were better able to support staff.
